Avira security software refers to a range of antivirus and internet security software for the Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Solaris computing platforms by Avira. These applications are based on the AntiVir antivirus engine also known as "Luke Filewalker", first launched in 1988.

Version 8.0 of all mainstream Avira products was released on April 14, 2008 and sports a faster scanning engine and a redefined GUI. Additionally, on October 17, 2008 a big update to the search engine was released, which increased scanning speed by 20%.

Avira GmbH periodically "cleans out" the virus definition files, by replacing specific signatures with generic ones, which result in a general increase in performance and scanning speed. The last database clean-out was made on October 27, 2008, which caused problems to AntiVir Personal users when updating because of its large size (15 MB) and because of AntiVir Personal's slow servers. For that reason Avira GmbH added an additional 6 GB of bandwidth to the AntiVir Personal Servers.

Avira AntiVir Personal: Free Antivirus is a nagware antivirus product for personal use only. Like most antivirus software, it scans disks for viruses and runs as a background process, checking each opened and closed file. It can also detect and possibly remove rootkits. The product performs Internet updates (daily by default) in which it opens a window, with an advertisement suggesting the user to purchase Avira AntiVir Premium. The user can also schedule different types of scans.

VLC media player is an open source, free software media player written by the VideoLAN project.

VLC is a portable multimedia player, encoder, and streamer supporting many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It is able to stream over networks and to transcode multimedia files and save them into various formats. VLC used to stand for VideoLAN Client, but that meaning is now deprecated. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License.

The 1858-page dictionary was written by Samdech Sangh Chuon Nath, the Supreme Patriarch of the Buddhist Mohaniakaya sect. The National Committee of the Khmer Language, under the direction of Sok An, decided to use this dictionary exclusively as its reference in terms of spelling.

The fifth edition of the dictionary is now available in electronic format, under an initiative of the BI and the Sealang Projects. The electronic dictionary is distributed free of charge. Numerous Cambodians, including journalists and students, make spelling errors. This dictionary will be very useful for them. One can refer to it or check the meaning of a word or its spelling with just a simple click.
